Duration & availability
- Short-term placements: 2 to 4 weeks (ideal for university breaks and professional leave).
- Extended placements: 2 to 6 months (ideal for gap years, sabbaticals, or thesis fieldwork).
- Group and university trips: customised schedules available for school or corporate groups.
What the placement fee covers
- Included: accommodation, all meals on campus, airport transfers, in-country transportation, safeguarding clearance, and 24/7 emergency support.
- Not included: international flights, Ghana visa, travel insurance, vaccinations, and personal leisure spending.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need prior teaching or agricultural experience?
Formal qualifications are definitely not mandatory for general placement streams, though enthusiasm, adaptability, and respect for local culture are essential. Specialised technical streams (such as solar infrastructure or advanced ICT) require relevant academic or practical backgrounds.
Is Ghana safe for international volunteers?
Yes. Ghana is known as one of the most peaceful and welcoming countries in West Africa. Wioso SHS offers a close-knit, supportive rural community setting with established security protocols and dedicated local staff.
Where do volunteers stay?
Volunteers stay in secure, comfortable volunteer housing near the Wioso Senior High School campus, equipped with clean water, electricity, and prepared meals.
